Thanksgiving is an interesting holiday for us. We don't travel to visit family (we do that over Christmas), so we usually celebrate Thanksgiving:
A) by ourselves
B) with another family or two who are lacking family
C) with one of my siblings or parents who has decided to come visit over the holiday
This year was amazing. We decided to invite my entire family over for the weekend. We really wanted everyone there, but thing didn't work out that way. The folks who decided to come visit were: my parents, my sister and her family, and my brother and his family. That made 5+2+5+6 folks which = 18. All in my house. Camped out everywhere. It was like a gigantic family sleepover. It was awesome. I know that my family thought that they were putting us out, and that we couldn't wait for them to leave. SO not the case. We loved every minute of it.
Stuff we did:
Played lots of games
Hit the beach (it wasreally vacant -- it was like the locals thought it was too cold or something. . . )
Baked all day -- love to cook!
A few guys went to our annual Turkey Bowl
Ate super yummy food (my turkey was awesome -- amazingly delicious)
Made way too much stuffing (The teenage boys kept telling me I wasn't making enough, and I foolishly listened. I made two 12x18 cookie sheets full stuffed 4" high. It was enough. We only went through 1/4 of it on Turkey day, and then ate the leftovers for many, many, many more meals).
Spent so much fun time together
Roy and I want to do this every year now -- with a different holiday each time. Next year we are inviting everyone over for the week over New Year's. So -- siblings of mine -- ya hear that? Mark those calendars!
